5 easy steps to talking on camera
Hate speaking to camera but want to get started?
Videos where you’re speaking to the camera (aka face-to-camera Reels) should (if possible) be a part of your content strategy. They help build a deeper connection between you and your audience and allow people to get to know you better. This is key in nurturing your potential clients.
But it’s hard, I get it. If you’re thinking about dipping your toe in, why not follow these 5 steps and JFDI!
1️⃣ Choose something to talk about. Make it something you’re passionate about, or a really valuable tip related to something you talk about all the time in clinic.
2️⃣ Decide on 1 line you’re going to say as the opening hook. It can be something as simple as “this is the one thing I get asked about all the time in clinic”
3️⃣ Decide where you’re going to film. Choose natural light if possible, some people feel more comfortable walking along outside (quiet area or garden?). Or you might prefer to be doing something whilst you’re talking so you feel less self-conscious. Could you pour a glass of water, make a coffee?
4️⃣ Start filming - and talking! If you’re walking along outside, just hold the phone out in front of you, to the side slightly and up a bit. If you need to be doing something, prop your phone up somewhere (or use a tripod, but let’s keep this as easy and simple as poss)
5️⃣ Don’t worry if you have pauses as you can cut these out after - we don’t need perfection at this time!! And you’re done!
Don’t spend time playing it back too much. If you’re happy with what it says, use the caption sticker (or make sure closed captions are enabled in Advanced settings) and use some text overlay to create the title hook which people will see.
We can use this as an ‘anchor hook’ which means it will show the entire video and will show in the profile crop for your grid. Add any caption you need although this doesn’t have to be long, it could be quick question about what you’re talking about. Then choose when to post - or post immediately!!
BONUS TIP: Share to Stories with some text on why people might want to watch the Reel
